Coquitlam’s new City Hall Annex will provide much-needed additional office space for two City departments. The space features both open and enclosed workspaces, easily accessible meeting rooms and breakout spaces, connection to natural daylight at the perimeter, and a kitchen space designed to allow for casual socializing and interaction. The white exposed ceiling mutes the building services, while increasing the ceiling height in the small space. Wood slats span across the space, framing the open work area, and introducing warmth into the space. Linear lighting is integrated into the wood ceiling and creates visual continuity within the space. These minimal interventions work together to create a contemporary, yet intimate and dynamic space.
MIZA’s scope included full architectural services for the office fit-out. This includes space planning, facilitation of sub-consultants, coordination of furniture, fixtures and equipment, creation of construction documents including millwork, interior finishes, specifications, as well as performing the role of Coordinating Registered Professional.
